“Justice Road Requiem” Second Movement: Night Rain in the Harbor City / Digital Film and Installation / Dimensions variable/ 2024

計劃緣起自我購入的一間基隆老屋，屋裡保留著七〇年代的隔間和吊燈，一張遺照用報紙平整的包覆，下巴處卻被人掀開，還有一台氧氣機。身為藝術家，我想安置此屋靈魂。我決定不用考察調研的方式，而是使用與另一個世界溝通的獨特方法，於創作中建構整個故事場景。我把原來在房間的兩盞吊燈做成一個靈魂搖擺的裝置，並將這間房子隔間拆下的木料重新拼製一艘船（聽說屋主原來是名船員）。展覽結束後，我燒掉這艘船，完成送走原屋主的儀式。

This project originated from an old house I purchased in Keelung. The interior retained its 1970s partitions and hanging lamps. A posthumous portrait had been carefully wrapped flat in newspaper, yet the area around the chin was deliberately uncovered. An oxygen machine remained in the room. As an artist, I felt compelled to settle the spirit that lingered within the house.

Rather than approaching the site through field research or ethnographic investigation, I chose to adopt an alternative method—one that attempts to communicate with another realm. Through the process of making, I constructed an entire narrative and scenographic environment, allowing the work itself to function as a mediumistic apparatus.

The two original ceiling lamps were transformed into a kinetic installation, swaying gently like suspended souls. The wooden planks removed from the house’s partitions were dismantled and reassembled into the form of a boat—echoing the rumor that the former owner had once been a sailor. In this way, the house was materially and symbolically reconfigured into a vessel, carrying memory, absence, and passage. At the conclusion of the exhibition, I burned the boat, completing a ritual gesture intended to bid farewell to the house’s former inhabitant.
