"Returning Home in Splendor" is a series of works made in 20001 including 4 photographs "Returning Home in Splendor 1-4" (125x125 / 150x100 / 125x125 / 95x95 cm) and one video "Returning Home in Splendor-5" (55 seconds)

Returning Home in Splendor” is a series consisting of four photographic works and one video piece. In this project, two mixed-breed dogs owned by friends are dressed in garments typically associated with pedigreed or “celebrity” dogs. Through this act of costuming, the work gestures toward a desire to obscure one’s original identity and to acquire a new one through the symbolic language of attire.

Borrowing from the idiomatic expression “returning home in glory,” the project brings these two dogs back to an animal shelter, which they are said to have once inhabited as strays. Having since been adopted, their change of status might be read as a form of upward mobility. To dress them elegantly thus becomes both ironic and ceremonial, as if marking their social ascent.

In this sense, ”Returning Home in Splendor“ culminates in staging a collective “family portrait”: the two dogs, now clad in the attire of canine stardom, photographed together with the other dogs at the shelter. The image operates simultaneously as reunion, performance, and quiet satire, reflecting on class, belonging, and the constructed nature of identity.
